You never know what you may find!

It has been sometime that i have posted a blog.  Busy with work and outside work too.  But i have found time to hook inbetween.

This week my sister who loves to shop at thrift store came across this unfinished rug.  It was from Rittermere crafts studio in Vineland, Ontario.

My sister picked it up for me, a new challenge is ahead.  I'm not sure what to do with it, the person who started it has done amazing work on it so far.  The wool strips are very narrow.

So I'm looking for some input on how to finish the rug.

do i stay with the original work that is done and continue with the thin strips of wool?

do i make it bigger by adding more patterns of the flowers?

Or make my own.

so many choices!!!

PLease if you have any ideas i would greatly appreciate your input.

Cheers

Kathryn

10 minute challenge update

Another week of progress on my floor rug. It's hard to see the hummingbird on the right but it's there!  Using mostly Briggs and Little, studio dyed wool cloth and yarn as well as recycled cloth from my stash. The wings and tail of the hummingbird are velvet. This is quite a challenge. So much fun❤️

10 minute a day challenge

After a week I have taken my sketches and drawn them on linen, sewed linen on cheticamp frame and hooked. Ten minutes everyday has been difficult to manage. It was more like one hour and ten minutes a day!  What a fun challenge!

Cosmos

Our cosmos have started blooming, so I just hung this small mat that I made last year in the dining room. We can enjoy the real flowers out the dining room window and their hooked counterpart on the wall:). I've hooked several small mats to hang in the same spot in the dining room and rotate them according to the season.

I want to show you some little tips here on the Pom members site. Right now I am crazy about flower pots. These are very simple designs I am doing right now but it is their simplicity that is difficult to carry off. For this orange pot I used sexy jersey and highlighted it with rust slub. I wanted a clean looking pot with not too much colour . The pot cannot compete with the flowers in these rugs. The pot has a very simple shape. Lean and long, and only two colours mixed together. I think it…

Playful is best

Hey everyone, I have not had coffee or eaten my breakfast yet but I had an urge to visit with you here.  Right now I am so excited. It's thursday so we do our live which always gets me rolling. Last week I took a long walk on the marsh with friends and while there we began playing with our portrait mode on our iphones using the studio light mode and we got some fun results. I just wanted to show you what I discovered just by playing.…
